Spring, Set by tête-à-tête.dining

The Tête-à-Tête spring supper club was set in the beautiful Studio Feast space. It was thoughtful, set by the kind of tablescape that invites you in, makes you want to sit down, shrug off your coat, and stay far longer than you planned. Spring had already crept onto the table before anyone arrived. Stepping into the studio, it was clear Alba hadn’t just set a table; she had curated a spring atmosphere across the space in her own language. Nothing sugary or loud, just a quietly confident freshness that made the whole room exhale a sense of relief that winter is defrosting.

The bones of the tablescape were deliberately simple: white linen cloth, menu cards placed carefully at the centre of stacked white plates, clear glass, while the floral arrangement did all the talking, becoming a series of small pockets of overgrown green, like something you might stumble across at the edge of a park. It was in the smaller details that Alba’s personality really appeared. Napkins were folded into delicate fans – a detail she mulled over out loud, weighing whether they should sit in the wine glasses or the water cups. It was a tiny decision, but a telling one, revealing how much honesty and care sat behind every choice, even the ones guests might never consciously notice. In the end, she tucked the napkins into the glasses as if they, too, were getting dressed up for the evening.

Outside, the trees were that exact shade of new-season green, visible through the large windows framed by gridded panes as everyone settled in. Together, the tablescape inside and the view beyond the glass felt as though they were in conversation. By the time the sun began to drop, the studio windows were casting a golden wash across the table, catching the glassware and picking up the reflections off the brick and blossom.

The tête-à-tête supper club menu felt like a quiet marker of spring's arrival, celebrating the freshest local produce and a cooking style that lets vegetables fully come into their own. Everything was designed to be shared, passed around and experienced together, embracing the true spirit of a supper club. The menu started with dustyknuckle sourdough and whipped brown butter, before unfolding into small odes to the season, from artichokes and asparagus to roasted radishes. Across the table, dishes were layered with infused oils, herb oils, homemade pickles and marinated vegetables.

Alba tested and refined the menu with friends and family beforehand, and that sense of home carried through the entire experience. Her cooking gently challenged the idea that vegetables need anything else to shine, leaning instead into bold flavours and thoughtful techniques that let each ingredient stand on its own.

Behind the scenes, this care carried into the preparation; joined by Emily, they moved alongside each other between prep and plating. Each dish arrived with colours that complemented the tablescape and a freshness you could trace from farm to table at a glance, all set in motion from the moment guests were welcomed with basil oil gin sours

The room shifted entirely when Amber from Love Me Tenders arrived, arms full of floral trays and an unmistakable energy that lifted the space instantly. Rooted (quite literally) in the season, Amber’s selection of florals echoed the spring-forward menu, with a thoughtfulness in every stem she chose that brought the bouquet together, not only as decor but also grounded the tablescape to the farm-to-table narrative.

A palette of greens, soft pinks, and muted purples ran through the table, with florals loosely scattered, wild, slightly undone, and foraged in style. The arrangements played with height and structure, and the bouquets came alive whimsically straight out of a fairytale with stems almost stretching upward as if waking from a pre-spring slumber.

Before the first guests arrived, there was a softness to the room that suspended the moment in-between, just before a space shifts from stillness into energy. The studio, untouched by conversation, was already warmed by the low, golden-hour light, holding a quiet sense of anticipation. Alba made final adjustments and readied herself to welcome each person at the door.
